Thomas Garcia is a Class of 2011 graduation candidate at Texas State University-San Marcos, and will receive a Bachelors of Science in Applied Sociology, with a Minor in Psychology. While studying at Texas State, he served as the Development Director for the University Democrats, and was previously elected as Historian for the Texas State College Democrats. Furthermore, he is a member of the Texas State Sociology Club, Texas State Social Media Club, and is now currently assisting the Texas Disabled Veterans Association’s Board of Directors, as the Program Director. Additionally, Thomas served eight years in the United States Marine Corps as a Noncommissioned Officer, and is an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. While serving honorably in the Marine Corps, Thomas attainted the rank of Sergeant, and was recognized on numerous occasions for his steadfast devotion to duty. He is also a graduate of Victoria High School, holds an Associate of Arts from Central Texas College, and is a first generation college graduate. Mr. Garcia will now be dedicated as an advocate for Veteran’s Rights, with plans to attend Graduate School in the spring of 2012.
